Sovereign Group Partners LLP is a London-based joint venture between the founding partners – formerly senior managers within global investment banks – and The Sovereign Group. Its primary aim is to provide smaller corporates with access to providers of private equity capital and debt financing.

Many companies need access to capital markets but are either unable to afford large investment banking fees or are deemed too small by global investment banks. SGP acts as a vehicle for introducing smaller corporates to potential investors, including venture capital and private equity organisations; stockbrokers who invest on behalf of private clients; sophisticated high-net worth individuals and other corporate and strategic investors.

The partners have vast experience in dealing with professional investors worldwide and are now replicating the same standard of service employed in institutional stock broking. Potential investments are matched with appropriate investors and simultaneously SGP’s corporate customers are given access to providers of capital who are focused on investing in the same area(s) of the economy.

Through extensive contacts with large investment banks, SGP is also able to tap into those deals ‘cast off’ by the big banks. In addition, The Sovereign Group also provides referrals from its client base. Where necessary SGP can advise on reorganisation and preparation prior to meeting potential investors.

As a result of either fee income taken as shares or direct investment, SGP usually becomes a share and/or warrant holder in its corporate customers. SGP may also provide clients with on-going investor relations. This necessitates a close working relationship, focusing SGP towards realising shareholder value and protecting investors’ interests.
