Job Purpose

As Assistant Finance Manager for Sovereign Malta, you will assist the Finance Manager in all duties undertaken by the finance department and will lead the function when the Finance Manager is on leave.  Responsibilities will include the full suite of accounting and payroll services to our portfolio of clients and you will play an active role in the entity strategy, as well as contributing to setting challenging yet realistic targets, 3-year budgets and forecasts. You will be commercially astute, comfortable challenging all levels of the business and will deliver all management information to the team.

 

Main duties

  • Production of accounting, audit, tax compliance solutions, to existing and new clients
  • Production of HR and payroll solutions for clients
  • Production of management accounts and financial statements (in line with Group timetable)
  • Forecasting and annual 3-year plan creation
  • Assist in the audit process and liaise with any external personnel
  • Lead, mentor and motivate the accounts team
  • Undertake financial analysis and regulatory reporting as required
  • Assist with the tax reporting for the company
  • Review and communicate the financials of our entities with the Finance Manager
  • Maintain all financial systems and processes in line with Group policy

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Professionally qualified or in final stages of obtaining qualification (CPA/CIMA/ACCA preferred) and ideally 2 years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of Malta individual and company tax
  • Strong business and commercial acumen and understanding of financial issues
  • Hard-working, efficient and motivated by results, a “can do” attitude
  • Excellent communicator, with both internal and external colleagues at all levels Professional services industry experience an advantage
  • Team player and ability to lead as well as manage
  • Proficient in both spoken/written English
  • Experience with ViewPoint accounting an advantage but not essential
  • Analytical, detail-minded and logical thinking
  • Proficient in MS Excel
