Tim was educated at St Andrew’,s College Grahamstown and after completing national service in the South African Navy in Simon’s Town, went on to study law at the Universities of Cape Town and Natal, Pietermaritzburg. He articled at prominent law firm what is now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr before joining Fedsure Holdings as regional legal adviser for the Western Cape. He later entered the offshore services industry as Managing Director of Sovereign Trust (SA) Limited, a role he held for 12 years after which he became it’s Chairman in 2010.

Tim has over 23 years experience advising high net worth individuals and corporations on all aspects of cross border tax structuring involving complex company and trust formation in multiple jurisdictions including Hong Kong, Gibraltar, Mauritius, Cyprus and Guernsey.

Tim has served on multiple boards and often appears on radio and television on issues of cross border tax planning and changes in legislation. He was a founding member of the South African branch of the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and was also a founding member of the Norval Sovereign African Art Prize, one of the most prestigious contemporary art prizes on the African Continent assisting both up and coming artists and children’s art charities.
