SOVEREIGN UK SEMINAR 2026 – Private Client Planning for UK Taxpayers: the New Tax Landscape

Date:
Thursday, 17 September 2026

Time:
From 5.30pm

VENUE:
St Martin’s Hall and Lightwell, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 4JJ

As the dust begins to settle after the biggest shake-up to UK personal taxation seen in generations, planning opportunities are emerging, albeit with further changes and tax risks on the horizon.

Following last year’s abolition of the remittance basis of taxation for non-UK domiciled individuals, this seminar will provide an overview of the key new regimes:

  • Foreign Income & Gains (FIG) regime for Qualifying New Residents (QNRs).
  • Long-Term Resident (LTR) status for Inheritance Tax (IHT) purposes.

Within this new framework, the following solutions will be explored:

  • Life Insurance Investment Bonds (‘wrappers’) suitable for all UK taxpayers.
  • Excluded Property Trusts (EPTs) for taxpayers who are not LTRs.
  • EPT / Insurance Bond combined planning.
  • Family Investment Companies (FICs) – offshore and onshore models and their application.

We will also discuss the impact of upcoming structural tax changes:

  • Inheritance Tax on pensions, effective April 2027 – assessment and planning options for QROPS and QNUPS members.
  • Autumn Budget 2026 – potential CGT and other changes, and pre-budget planning.
  • Emigration Planning – review of top alternative tax residence locations.
