Alex Powell

Alex joined Sovereign Pension Services in the Wirral in 2022 as Head of Customer Services. Following the sale of the business in 2023, he relocated to Spain and assumed the role of Head of Operations for Sovereign Trust (Gibraltar) Limited. He subsequently progressed to Managing Director, where he led the Gibraltar business for three years, strengthening operational standards, enhancing client service delivery and spearheading key transformation initiatives.

Prior to joining Sovereign, Alex spent more than a decade in the banking sector with Lloyds Banking Group in the United Kingdom, primarily in operational leadership roles. Throughout his career, he has developed a strong track record in driving operational excellence, building high-performing teams and delivering customer-centric solutions.

In 2026, Alex was appointed Chief Operating Officer of The Sovereign Group. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Group across its global network of offices and jurisdictions, working closely with the senior leadership team to deliver the Group’s strategy, promote operational excellence and support colleagues and clients worldwide. Based in Gibraltar, Alex remains a member of the board of Sovereign Trust (Gibraltar) Limited and is passionate about fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and exceptional client service.
