Alert to all UAE Companies: New labour and immigration rules for visa process

As of 4th February 2018 the “Coordination Committee to execute Cabinet Resolution No. (1/8) for 2017” will require those coming to the UAE for the purpose of work to obtain the “Good Conduct and Behaviour Certificate”.

A “Good Conduct and Behaviour Certificate” will have to be obtained in order to receive the necessary labour and immigration approvals from the government authorities in the UAE.

The certificate should be acquired from the candidates’ home country, or all countries they have lived in the last 5 years. It must then be attested by the UAE embassy in the country of issue along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE.

Individuals who already hold a UAE visa will not require the certificate upon their visa renewal. Furthermore, those applying for visit, tourist and dependent visas will also be exempt.

When hiring, employers should take into consideration the additional processing time to obtain the certificate if relocating employees. The timeframes will vary between countries.
