About Guernsey Retirement Annuity Trust Scheme (RATS)

Sovereign has developed a multi-member retirement annuity trust scheme that is open solely to members resident in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The Sovereign Retirement Annuity Trust Scheme (RATS) has been approved by the States of Guernsey Income Tax Office and is listed by the UK tax authority (HMRC) as a Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme (QROPS), so it is able to accept authorised transfers from UK-registered pension schemes.

The scheme has three pricing structures: Builder, Classic and Pro, which ensure that it is appropriate and accessible for individuals at all stages of their retirement saving cycle, including those at an ‘accumulation’ stage who are still saving for their retirement and those who have already built up a pot of retirement savings.

The trustee and administrator of the scheme is Sovereign Trust (Guernsey) Limited, which is licensed and regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission.

Sovereign can also establish bespoke single-member RATS for Guernsey residents should this be preferred, which will subsequently be approved by the States of Guernsey Income Tax Office.
