Introduction
Welcome to the May edition of the Sovereign Report, where we bring you the latest insights, regulatory developments and strategic opportunities shaping international business, retirement and private client planning.
This month’s issue reflects the continued pace of transformation across key global markets. In the Middle East, evolving corporate frameworks and regulatory initiatives are creating new opportunities for structuring and expansion—from the conversion of foreign branches into LLCs in the UAE to the increasing relevance of dual licensing and escrow solutions supporting cross-border trade. At the same time, Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation agenda continues to drive growth and innovation at scale, reinforcing the region’s position as a global business hub.
Across other jurisdictions, we examine how established financial centres are adapting to remain competitive. Cyprus continues to offer compelling advantages for innovation-led businesses through its IP Box regime, while Hong Kong’s re-domiciliation framework marks an important milestone one year on, highlighting its role in facilitating international corporate mobility.
For private clients and international employers, regulatory change remains front of mind. We explore the implications of new global reporting standards for crypto assets, developments in UK tax compliance for non-residents, and key considerations for managing cross-border pension and employee benefit arrangements.
Finally, we celebrate creativity and community through our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, alongside our latest 5 Questions With… feature, offering personal insights from within the Group.
If you would like to discuss any of the topics covered in this edition, our global teams would be delighted to assist.

Yacht Insurance: Key Factors and Considerations for Owners
Key considerations for yacht insurance include accurately valuing the vessel, ensuring sufficient liability protection, covering crew and guests, including risks such as environmental damage and wreck removal, and structuring the policy based on how the yacht is used. These factors determine how effectively the policy protects both the asset and the owner’s financial exposure.
Owning a yacht is about more than luxury – it’s a significant investment, a lifestyle, and often a business. Whether your vessel is a high-performance private yacht, a superyacht, or a commercial charter vessel, ensuring it is properly insured is essential for protecting your asset, your crew, and your peace of mind.
